The history behind the majuce chest:
Majuce chests (sometimes spelled majus) originate from Rajasthan and Gujarat, and were traditionally part of a young woman's dowry — the collection of clothes, jewellery, saris, and household items a bride would bring into her marriage. The chest itself, along with its carefully packed contents, would often be presented to and examined by the groom's family as part of assessing a good match, making it a deeply personal and symbolically important object in a household. This particular piece was used and loved for generations, with its aged finish and carving telling a real story of age and history.
