Rutilated Quartz Knotted Necklace

This statement strand features 31 large, smooth 15mm rutilated quartz beads, each one shot through with fine golden threads. The beads are hand-knotted on soft grey silk and finished with a sterling silver clasp. It was designed by Merchant Campbell and made here in Australia, and it’s exclusive to our range.

Rutilated quartz is clear quartz with fine golden threads of rutile, a natural mineral, captured inside the stone. These threads are sometimes called “Venus hair” or “angel hair”. Polished to a smooth surface, each bead glows with its own unique pattern of golden strands, so no two are ever the same. The stone is traditionally associated with clarity, focus and positive energy, and it’s said to brighten the mood and lift the spirits.

We sourced these rutilated quartz beads in person, through trusted contacts in Thailand we’ve built up over years of travelling and sourcing.

Each bead is individually knotted on grey silk. This traditional technique keeps the beads from rubbing against each other and helps protect them, and it also gives the necklace a lovely, fluid drape. The soft grey silk and sterling silver clasp let the golden glow of the quartz take centre stage.

At approx. 52cm, it sits just below the collarbone. It’s lovely with an open neckline or worn over a simple knit. Pair it with our rutilated quartz and jade stretch bracelet for a coordinated look. It also makes a gorgeous gift.

Care
Put your necklace on after perfume, hairspray and lotions, and remove it before swimming, showering or exercising. Keep the silk dry, as water can weaken and stretch it. After wearing, wipe the necklace gently with a soft, dry cloth. Store it flat, rather than hanging, in a soft pouch or box, away from other jewellery so the quartz doesn’t get scratched or chipped. Sterling silver can tarnish naturally over time, so give the clasp an occasional gentle buff with a silver polishing cloth. As with all knotted silk, it may need restringing after years of wear, which is a sign it’s been well loved!

We ship Australia wide and use Australia Post Parcel, unless Express Post shipping has been selected. Please allow 2–3 working days for delivery to metropolitan areas for orders placed within business hours. For regional locations, WA and sale orders, please allow up to 3–10 working days.

If you have selected Express Post shipping, assuming your address lies within the Express Post network and you have purchased within business hours (see below), Express Post orders will arrive in 1–2 business days.
