Product Description
Simple, classic and endlessly wearable! These drop earrings feature a 6mm natural jade bead sitting above a slightly larger 8mm round freshwater pearl. It's a timeless pairing that works for any occasion, from the office to a weekend lunch to a special celebration. Choose from quality gold vermeil or sterling silver hooks to suit your style. They were designed by Merchant Campbell and made here in Australia, and they're exclusive to our range.
We sourced these good-quality round freshwater pearls in person in Lombok, Indonesia, through trusted contacts we’ve built up over years of travelling and sourcing. For centuries, pearls have been treasured as symbols of wisdom, purity and calm, and they have long been linked with the moon and the gentle pull of the sea.
Our natural jade beads were also sourced in person, this time through our contacts in Thailand. Jade has been prized across Asia for thousands of years and is traditionally known as a stone of harmony, good fortune and protection. It’s also said to bring prosperity and long life. Paired with pearls, it creates a soft, serene combination with a beautiful sense of balance.
Gold vermeil or sterling silver?
Gold vermeil (pronounced "ver-may") is a real step up from standard gold plate. Gold-plated jewellery usually has a very thin layer of gold over a base metal such as brass or copper, so it can wear away quickly and may irritate sensitive ears. Vermeil uses a base of sterling silver with a much thicker layer of gold on top, so it lasts longer and keeps its warm golden glow. If you prefer a cooler, brighter look, sterling silver is a classic choice that suits the soft green of the jade beautifully.
Wear them on their own, or pair them with our pearl and jade knotted necklaces and bracelets for a coordinated look. They make a lovely gift, too.

Care
Pearls love to be worn, but they're delicate, so put your earrings on last and take them off first. Apply perfume, hairspray and lotions beforehand, and remove them before swimming, showering or exercising. Keep them dry and away from chemicals and cleaning products. After wearing, wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth, and store them on their own in a soft pouch or box so they don't get scratched. Sterling silver can tarnish naturally over time, so give the hooks an occasional gentle buff with a silver polishing cloth, keeping it away from the pearl and jade.
