Jade has been prized across Asia for thousands of years and is traditionally known as a stone of harmony, good fortune and protection. This traditional technique keeps the beads from rubbing against each other and helps protect them, and it also gives the necklace a lovely, fluid drape. Keep the silk dry, as water can weaken and stretch it. After wearing, wipe the necklace gently with a soft, dry cloth. Store it flat, rather than hanging, in a soft pouch or box, away from other jewellery. Sterling silver can tarnish naturally over time, so give the clasp an occasional gentle buff with a silver polishing cloth.
